error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0:

Post by Moviefanus » Fri Nov 20, 2015 5:49 pm

Hello :-)

I am on a fresh . of Ubuntu Linux 15.10 (64-bit)
I just downloaded the files and unpacked.

However when I run the Popcorn-Time executable nothing happens.

So I tried to run it from the Terminal.
I cd to the directory it is in and I run :
./Popcorn-Time

Then I get the error :
./Popcorn-Time: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Can someone tell me what to do in order to fix this?

i tried symlink too
and i got black screen too,
then I started with in terminal so i could read error, and i got this

[5183:1204/182547:INFO:gpu_info_collector_x11.cc(80)] NVCtrl . does not exist.

in Ubuntu 15.10 you do not have file in library "libudev.so.0" but in stead "libudev.so.1"
what would be next step to solve ?
any IDEA ?

If you're getting this error it's most likely because you're using the 64-bit package while the libraries the package request only support 32-bit ..

Easy fix is to go with 32 bit .. But it probably wouldn't be too difficult to open up synaptic and fetch the 64-bit libraries.

solved in my debian stretch

try it

[ 32 bits ]
# apt install libudev1 && cd /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ && ln -s libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0

[ 64 bits ]
# apt install libudev1 && cd /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ && ln -s libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0
